Hannah Meade is a stage director currently based in San Diego, CA. Since arriving in San Diego in the fall of 2019, Hannah has worked with La Jolla Playhouse, The Old Globe, Cygnet Theatre, Backyard Renaissance, MOXIE Theatre and numerous others. For the 2024 San Diego based Craig Noel awards, Hannah was awarded Outstanding Director for her work on Constellations with Chalk Circle Collective which was also awarded Outstanding Dramatic Production for the 2024 season.
Hannah has a passion for New Works. She served as the Associate Director for the world premiere of Kate Hamill’s The Little Fellow and as the assistant director for the world premiere of Karen Zacharias’ The Age of Innocence at the Old Globe directed by Chay Yew. Hannah found this love for New Works after working with the John F Kennedy Center as an Assistant Director for their MFA Playwrights’ Intensive in 2019 and then returning in 2021 and 2022 as a member of the director’s cohort for the Kennedy Center Directing Intensive.
Originally from Houston, Texas, Hannah was raised as a dancer and attended San Houston State University where she received a BFA in Theatre with an emphasis in directing and a minor in dance. Hannah finds her dance studies throughout her work as a director. Hannah returned to Houston in the fall of 2024 to make her director debut at Stages where she directed Ms Holmes and Ms Watson - APT 2B.
